warning. If you want to avoid spoilers for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, stay away because we’ll be diving into some of the big things for the upcoming Shonen movie.

While marketing for the film showed us the new “Smooth Piccolo” look of Piccolo which gives him a lighter skin tone and erases the lines from his arms, the movie also gives Piccolo a fresh new transformation dubbed “Orange Piccolo.” Seizing the opportunity to delve deeper into this new force, creator Akira Toriyama dives into his love for Namekian as well as the gag behind his new transformation:

“My favorite character is Piccolo, because of his quiet stoicism. It’s rare to see him talk and walk around as much as he does this time, and it’s also probably the first time he’s had a proper makeover. Since he doesn’t have any hair sticking out straight to him, I tried to make him really shine rather From that, but I thought this would make it kind of hard to tell he turned, so I made him orange, although there might still be times when it’s hard to tell the difference between this and his normal form.

I might have had to make it too much, but personally, I’m just glad he finally has battle power on par with Goku and company. Doesn’t the name “Orange Piccolo” sound like something he came up with? Since Piccolo isn’t very good at naming things.”
